Dr. George R. Newkome, PhD - President
Dr. George R. Newkome is the President of NEOSVF and a member of the board of directors. Dr. Newkome has years of experience leading the University of Akron Research Foundation and commercialization and research at the University of Akron. His efforts at UA led to significant growth in sponsored research projects and the university's patent portfolio. He is on the board of directors of 14 corporations as well as numerous editorial boards.
Daniel J. Hampu, J.D., M.B.A. - Executive Director, Vice President, & Secretary
Daniel J. Hampu is a Vice President and Secretary of NEOSVF and member of the board of directors. He is a Project Manager for the University of Akron Research Foundation, where he focuses on technology commercialization and due diligence. He provides assistance to various startup companies through financial and marketing analysis of fundamental business model considerations. Mr. Hampu is an alumni of NEOSVF where he was a managing partner of the fund and lead due diligence teams that invested in portfolio companies Wastebits and Paragon Robotics.
Kenneth G. Preston, J.D. - Vice President
Kenneth G. Preston is a Vice President of NEOSVF and a member of the board of directors. He serves as Associate Vice President for Research and Director of Technology Transfer for the University of Akron. Mr. Preston has years of experience identifying and evaluating university inventions, which has fostered economic development, initiation of startups, and spinouts. Mr. Preston previously served as Vice President, Senior Counsel and Chief Patent Counsel for TRW, Inc., and he worked in the law offices of Eaton Corporation and Hupp Corporation. He is a member of the Ohio Bar, a registered patent attorney with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and a registered professional engineer in Ohio.
Mary Ellen Hinkle, CPA - Treasurer
Mary Ellen Hinkle is the Treasurer of NEOSVF. She is also the Director of Accounting for University of Akron Research Foundation. She assists University start-ups with accounting, payroll, and taxes and also helps manage licensing and research contracts at University of Akron Research Foundation. Mrs. Hinkle's past work experiences include accounting positions in hospital, retail, non-profit, and public accounting.
